Claredon House, on the corner of Second and L Streets, is the only apartment building located in “Old Sacramento” (as it is known), an area of the city set aside as a National Landmark and State Park.

It’s cobblestone streets and wood-planked sidewalks, museums, shops, restaurants and 53 historic buildings recreate Sacramento of the 1850s.

At that time, the Clarendon Hotel with its French restaurant was a neighborhood favorite. The present three-story building was constructed in 1977 to replicate the authentic 1852 exterior. The building was acquired by Hank Fisher Properties in 1983.

Today, Clarendon House are has 39 apartments: six are studios and the remaining are one-bedrooms.

The studios range in size from 388 to 495 square feet. Rents start at $725. The one-bedroom apartments range from 617 to 708 square feet with rent beginning at $825.

There is a beautiful central courtyard with decorative wrought-iron railings and a running fountain.

Old Sacramento boasts lots of events to enjoy. Clarendon House retains its charm and enjoys great residents, some who have been here for 15 years.
